Northwest Passage & Greenland

RCGS Resolute
August 30 - September 13, 2019

Travel in the footsteps of early Arctic explorers on the classic Northwest Passage. This non-diving adventure takes you to the land of the polar bear and musk ox!

Ocean First embarks on yet another unique non-diving adventure, this time to the Canadian Arctic and Greenland. This adventure follows Sir John Franklin’s ill-fated expedition nearly 170 years ago as his 2 ships ventured into these icy waters, never to be heard from again. Both vessels were discovered 3 years ago, shedding light on their mysterious disappearance. Our excursion takes us to the home of polar bears, musk ox, caribou, harp seals, sei, humpback, sperm and fin whales, as well as an enormous array of sea-faring birds.

We begin in Greenland, exploring the stunning coastline and quaint villages. The next stop is Baffin Island where there will be opportunities for hiking and zodiac cruises; keep an eye open for musk ox and possibly Arctic hares! One of our last stops will be at Coningham Bay, a well-known spot for seeing polar bears. Bears in this area are here to feast on beluga whales and it is not uncommon to see whale skeletons and fat bears resting after a hunt. Don’t miss this opportunity of a lifetime to explore a pristine environment with good friends!
