CLASSES FOR INTERMEDIATE SWIMMERS

Our Intermediate classes are divided into two sub-levels to tailor to your child’s swimming ability more effectively. These two levels are taught together to allow children to build on their skills and comfort in the water at the same time.

Intermediate I

  • Prerequisites: Swim 40 feet with windmill arms and technical rollover breath and 40 feet with elementary backstroke OR swim 40 feet with smooth freestyle and side breath.
  • Built for intermediate swimmers with previous swim experience who can swim 40 feet with windmill arms and rollover breath or freestyle arms and side breath. As the first Level II class, swimmers are introduced to competitive strokes and begin to learn freestyle arms and unilateral breathing. Swimmers learn surface dives, treading water, and flip turns.
  • Final goal: swim 80 feet freestyle.

Intermediate II

  • Prerequisites: Swim 80 feet freestyle
  • Built for intermediate swimmers who can swim 80 feet of freestyle efficiently. This class focuses on stroke development, bilateral breathing, starts, and turns, and introduces competitive backstroke and competition-style drills.
  • Final goal: swim 100 feet freestyle with bilateral breathing and flip turns.
