In response to the high number of cases in Boulder County and the areas around us, we would like to ensure that our customers are aware of the measures that we are taking to keep our facility a safe environment for our customers and staff.


Weekly Policy Agreement Requirement
Starting November 2nd, we are requiring all enrolled swim families to read and agree to our COVID-19 policy every week before their swim class. You must check that you have read and agreed to ALL policies for your agreement date to be updated. This can be done by logging into our online parent portal anytime during the week leading up to your swim lesson. We will also be sending out weekly reminder emails on Sundays.

COVID-19 Policies
Any swimmers or family members that believe they were exposed to COVID-19 or begin showing any symptoms of COVID-19 must contact Ocean First immediately. We will then reach out to the other families from your class, and classes that attended lessons later on the same day.

  • If your swimmer or someone in their family has symptoms, the swimmer must test negative for COVID-19 to return to class.
  • If your swimmer or someone in their family is exposed to someone with COVID-19, you must either test negative or stay home for 14 days before returning to class. 
  • If your swimmer tests positive for COVID-19, you must notify Ocean First and we will discuss your enrollment and further actions.

Facility Precautions
All of our swim staff undergo wellness checks prior to each shift, wear masks for the full duration of their shift, and practice social distancing from customers and other staff whenever possible.

We have structured our class schedule with a maximum of two classes occurring at the same time, and a 15-minute break between each class session. During this break we clean and sanitize all tools used by swimmers, as well as all benches, changing areas and commonly used touch points.

We require that all of our customers wear masks while in our facility except for when in the pool.

We are encouraging only swimmers to come in for their class. We allow one parent/guardian to come in with their swimmer if necessary and for all privates and Baby & Me classes. We will walk all other swimmers out to their car when their class is over.

Our pool continues to be a safe place to learn and practice. 

Please stay updated with our COVID-19 policies as the weather changes. 

• Staying Home:
As flu season is upon us, please keep your swimmers at home if anyone in the family is not feeling well. Call or email to notify us that you won't be attending your class and we will schedule a make-up when everyone is feeling better. 

Reminder: All non-illness related absenses require a 48 hour notice to redeem your make up.

• Check In:
What's new: you may wait to check in inside while socially distancing along the path of fish.
Reminder: Please continue to arrive within 5 minutes of your class time so a staff member can check you in and walk your swimmer to their designated spot. We are trying to limit the amount of contact in our facility so feel free to stay in your car or nearby during your swimmers lesson. We will walk them out through the side door when they are done.

 • Changing Rooms: 
What's new: We are opening up the changing rooms to be used quickly after class. 
Reminder: Please continue to bring your swimmer dressed and ready for class. 
Many staff members have decreased some hours on site so if you have scheduling questions please continue to email Swim@oceanfirst.blue. If there is not an admin available during your swim lesson feel free to email/call after class.

Our pool is open for personal training! 

This means: During dive hours our pool is open for personal scuba diving/ practice only. During swim hours our pool is open for non-contact personal training only.

The health and safety of our swimmers and staff are of the utmost importance. We are offering small group size swim lessons & camps in accordance with CDPHE Covid-19 regulations.

Ocean First Swim School will remain closed until April 30th, 2020.  The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has extended gymnasium and pool closures until April 30th and we are adhering to their emergency orders related to COVID-19.  We will continue to send email updates and we will keep our website updated here with most current information.

We value your commitment to Ocean First, which is why we are taking proactive measures to ensure the health of our community. We will not be charging tuition for any students enrolled in classes during our closure.

Thank you all for your dedication to Ocean First and reaching out about how you can help. We are currently putting together virtual course on the following topics:

  • New marine science content: These videos will provide you with an interactive virtual take on our marine science camps. Together you and your kids will have access to Ms. Alex as she takes you on adventures in the underwater world through experiments, activities, and crafts. 
  • Dry-land workouts and stretches for the upper level class students to be able to do from home.
  • Family yoga sessions that the whole group can participate in. Get ready for a fun, yet challenging yoga class with certified yoga instructor, Ms. Kathryn. 

We are also working hard to get clips of tips and tricks to keep practicing your dry swim lessons from home with Mr. James and the crew.

As many of you know, the CDC (Center for Disease Control) is responding to a global outbreak of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. We want to assure you that Ocean First is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our community. With the outbreak of coronavirus, we are asking for your help to take additional measures to provide a safe and healthy space for all of our customers and staff. If you or your child isn't feeling well, please give us a call to reschedule. We are happy to make accommodations for you so that you and/or your child can get well. 

Please continue reading to learn more about our ongoing and temporary policies.

Here's a reminder of our make-up policy: 

  • We require a 24-hour notice in advance of your absence in order to be eligible for a make-up class.
  • Make-ups are based on availability and are not guaranteed.
  • We cannot guarantee the same teacher for your make-up class.
  • We cannot schedule your make-up class further than seven days in advance.
  • If you know you are going to be absent, you can schedule a make-up class before your absence date.
  • If you miss a scheduled make-up, it cannot be rescheduled.

Until further notice, we are offering the following changes to our make-up policy: 

  • Make-ups can be extended following an illness-related absence as long as the family communicates the absence in advance.
  • Past make-ups are valid if your family is not currently enrolled in lessons for up to one month following the communicated drop reason (case by case basis).
  • Illness-related absences notified within the 24-hour notice are eligible for makeups. 

Until further notice, we are altering our drop policy to accommodate our families: 

  • All illness-related drop requests must be communicated to the swim administrator prior to your next swim lesson. You will be given the option of a credit or extended make-ups for your remaining lessons. 
  • Any non-illness-related drops continue on as usual and are to be communicated before the 1st of the month. 
  • Due to waitlist demand, we cannot hold or guarantee that same class after the student is dropped. We can however, add you back to any and all waitlists.
