JOSH THE OTTER
WATER SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAM
Aquatic safety is the core of the Ocean First Swim School's swim program. Ensuring our students have the skills necessary to reach safety should they fall into the water is of utmost importance to our swim teachers. In addition to teaching swim lessons, we have joined the Joshua Collingsworth Foundation’s Josh the Otter program.
The mission of the Joshua Collingsworth Foundation is to educate children and adults worldwide about water safety through the utilization of drowning prevention campaigns & early childhood water safety training. Learn more about their organization at joshtheotter.org
Every year at our annual Splash Day event, we invite our current students to join us for a fun and educational day about water safety, where we tell the story of Josh The Otter and practice real-life safety scenarios, such as what happens if you fall in the pool with your clothes on, and how to help a friend in trouble. We've had a great time educating the children of Boulder, and introducing them to Josh!
