April Social: Talking Sweet - Sharks & Corals in Gulfo Dulce
By OceanFirst on 3/26/17

Join Ocean First for an evening with two Boulder women doing amazing work in ocean conservation here and abroad. Dr. Joanie Kleypas is a marine ecologist and coral reef specialist working to investigate how rising atmospheric carbon dioxide affects marine ecosystems. Dr. Mikki McComb-Kobza is our resident shark expert and director of Ocean First Institute.
Both have been doing work in the Golfo Dulce (Spanish for "sweet gulf") in southern Costa Rica. Dr. Kleypas has been researching, growing and protecting corals, and Dr. McComb-Kobza has been tagging, tracking and protecting juvenile hammerhead sharks, and both are excited to share their experiences and findings.
