March (and Swim!) into Spring

By OceanFirst on 3/16/16

Hello warm weather! As our swim families head away to tropical destinations for vacation, we wanted to highlight the importance of water safety.

  • Before getting into a new pool be aware of the depth and talk to your kids about where it is safe to swim.
  • Remind your swimmers of the safety skills they learn with us before they get in the water, including how to safely grab the wall or rollover and float.
  • The ocean is a wonderful place to explore; be realistic about what you and your children's abilities are. Remember the ocean currents change quickly and without notice.

Staying in town?

Spring Break is an excellent opportunity to catch up on any make-ups you may have. If you know you are going to be out of town let us know before you leave so you can fit in the lessons before your break.

How to practice swimming skills while on break:

  • Have your kids practice what they are learning in class for at least 15 minutes every time they are in the pool, ocean, or lake.
  • Talk to your swimmer's teacher before you go on vacation so they can tell you exactly what your child should focus on.
