If you have ever stepped foot in Ocean First, Amy should be a familiar face. As the Director of Travel, she's made it her job to know the ins and outs of any type of adventure. Amy is psyched to be leading our upcoming trip to the stunning islands of Palau & Truk in May (only two spots left!)

Here's a little more about Amy:

How long have you been diving and what makes you continue to dive?
"I have been diving since 1991; I got certified so I could dive in Australia during my study abroad program. Why do I continue to dive? It's addictive and you never know what you are going to see. The more you dive the better the chances of being in the right place at the right time!"

If you could go to only one dive destination for the rest of your life, where would you go?
"Cocos Island, Costa Rica"

What sets you apart from other trip leaders? What makes people want to travel with you time and time again?
"I run the Travel Department! :) I've been traveling my whole life, it's in my blood. I love to explore new countries, learn about the people, culture, food, animals, history, etc... I like shopping and negotiating deals! I am a particularly good jewelry and scarf shopper."

What is your favorite thing to see on a dive?
"Something you didn't expect to see at that location! For example.. on the first trip I led (Australia 2001) we saw a guitarfish cruising the Yongala wreck. That was awesome and unexpected."

What is your experience diving around Palau and Truk?
"I've been to Yap and Truk before (2006), but never to Palau. I love diving in currents so Palau should be fantastic! I also love the history and mystique of Truk. It is very eerie to follow a descent line from the mothership into the deep and have the shipwreck materialize out of the depths. The place is steeped in history and you can feel it on every dive."

You just got out of the water after an incredible dive, what do you do next?
"Take a hot shower.. I'm always cold!"

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
"Avocados with salt."

What does your perfect day look like?
"I would spend all day outside hiking or biking, digging the fresh air. I'd cap it off with a nice glass of vino tinto.. bliss!"
