Meet The Diver Of The Month: Cole!
By OceanFirst on 4/18/18
We are excited to highlight an Ocean First diver who captured our attention before he can even get fully open water certified! At the old age of nine, Cole has already been diving for two years with our Scuba Rangers program and has big plans for where his diving will take him. For his birthday party, he chose to forego presents and instead asked his friends to donate to Ocean First Institute - and ended up raising $400 in the name of ocean conservation! We asked Cole a few questions to get to know him better:
How long have you been Scuba Diving?
I started Junior Rangers when I was 8 and now I am 9.
What got you interested in diving?
I wanted to be an astronaut and then I learned that astronauts train by scuba diving. So I decided that I wanted to be a scuba diver. Also at our school we studied the ocean and saw a virtual reality dive.
When you are old enough, where is the first place you would like to go diving in the ocean?
The Mariana Trench but if that is too deep then somewhere in the Pacific Ocean near reefs.
Why is the ocean such an important place to protect?
70% of the earth is covered by oceans and there are many endangered species in the ocean. Also a lot of trash ends up in the ocean.
What is your favorite thing about Ocean First?
I love Ocean First because they protect ocean life and give people the opportunity to dive in the ocean.
